About Cincinnati Christian University

Cincinnati Christian University (CCU) was a private Christian university in Cincinnati, Ohio, supported by the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. Founded in 1924 as Cincinnati Bible Seminary, it offered various degree programs with a mission to equip individuals for leadership and ministry based on biblical principles. The university faced significant financial challenges and declining academic performance, leading to its placement on "show-cause" status by its accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), in 2019. Consequently, CCU's board of trustees announced its decision to cease offering accredited degree programs at the conclusion of the Fall 2019 semester and officially withdrew from the HLC. The university's campus was subsequently purchased by IDEA Public Schools. At the time of its closure, it had an enrollment of approximately 547 students.
