About Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences

The Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences (CSAS), a magnet school established in 1986, is uniquely housed in the historic Wyatt Hall. This Georgian Revival building, designed by Chattanooga architect Reuben H. Hunt, was constructed in 1920-1921 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Originally Chattanooga High School, then Riverside High School, the building has served multiple generations of students. CSAS embraces a liberal arts curriculum patterned on Mortimer Adler's Paideia philosophy, emphasizing critical thinking, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity. The school aims to mirror the city's diversity, fostering civil discourse and problem-solving skills. CSAS provides a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to explore various fields and develop into well-rounded individuals ready for success in any path they choose.
