About CCHLA - UFRN

The Architecture and Urbanism Course (CAU) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) was established on August 13, 1973, separating from the Engineering Course in May 1977 to become part of the Center for Technology. The first class graduated in 1978, and the program was officially recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) through Decree Law n° 83208/79 on February 28, 1979. The curriculum has undergone several reformulations, marked by a commitment to constant improvement and pedagogical advancements, including a revolutionary integrated content system adopted in 1990. The program aims to train professionals skilled in designing and organizing internal and external spaces, adhering to principles of aesthetics, comfort, and functionality. Graduates are prepared for roles in architectural and urban planning, encompassing areas such as buildings, architectural complexes, monuments, landscape architecture, interior design, and local, urban, and regional physical planning, as well as supervision, technical coordination, and feasibility studies.
