The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) offers a holistic approach to architectural education, integrating architecture, civil engineering, and urban planning within a joint faculty, known as the 'Cottbus model'. This interdisciplinary approach emphasizes the interplay of form, construction, and function, as well as environmental and social integration, to ensure high-quality building design. Architects are trained to be active in architectural culture with a strong sense of responsibility to society, clients, and the environment. Students develop ideas and designs from conceptualization to execution, combining creative, economic, ecological, social, and structural aspects. The programs provide specific skills for working at the highest level in architectural firms, enabling graduates to formulate concepts both by hand and with computer-aided planning, and to manage complex construction projects. The curriculum includes extensive project modules with 'team teaching' in well-equipped studios and offers broad elective courses for specialization in areas like art, visualization, history, engineering, urban planning, economics, and law.
