Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), formerly known as Leyte Institute of Technology (1965-2004), was established in 1907 as the Leyte Provincial School. As a regional state higher education institution in Tacloban, Philippines, EVSU is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction, and training across various fields, including architecture and engineering. The School of Architecture and Allied Disciplines (SAAD) originated in 1976 as a four-year architecture course within the Civil Engineering Department, becoming a separate department in 1981-1982.
