Welsh School of Architecture

The BSc Architecture program at the Welsh School of Architecture provides a foundation in architectural education, blending design, theory, and technical training. It equips students with an understanding of architectural principles, sustainable design, and the socio-cultural impact of the built environment.

The MArch program satisfies Part 2 of the UK professional qualification for architects and includes a year of work-based learning in practice. The program focuses on research-led studies with a Dissertation and Design Thesis.

The MA Urban Design program enables practitioners and scholars to transform the field of urban design through critical thinking and creative practice. The program is jointly delivered by the Welsh School of Architecture and the School of Geography and Planning.

The Architecture PhD/MPhil program builds on the school's reputation in sustainability, urbanism, architectural history, and design-led research. Students work with leading academics in a collaborative research environment.

The MA Architectural Design program is structured around the Architectural Design and Research (ADR) design module where students use techniques of research through design to explore an issue of interest. The dissertation includes a documented design project, accompanied by a critical commentary.

This program, also known as Part 3, is equivalent to the RIBA Examination in Professional Practice and qualifies you to practice as an architect. This program is ARB/RIBA accredited.

This program focuses on the energy and environmental performance of existing buildings, integrating technical and human factors.
