Universitat Leipzig Herder Institute

interDaF e. V. am Herder-Institut at Leipzig University, located at Lumumbastraße 4, 04105 Leipzig, Germany, is a dedicated language institute specializing in German as a Foreign Language. Established as a non-profit association in 1992, it continues the long tradition of the Herder Institute. The institute's primary offerings include intensive German courses across various proficiency levels, from A1 to C1. It also hosts international summer, winter, and autumn language courses, often enriched with cultural excursions and German studies programs. A key area of its work is providing further training for foreign teachers of German and German studies professionals. interDaF develops special programs for foreign researchers and doctoral candidates in collaboration with the Graduate Academy Leipzig, and accommodates individual learning needs. Since its inception, over 15,000 students have benefited from its comprehensive language programs, taught by highly-qualified teachers using modern communicative methods. The institution also serves as a licensed test center for telc Deutsch examinations.
