About Ukrainian Academy of Arts

The National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (NAFAA) is the only multi-profile Academy of Art education in Ukraine, which prepares creative staff in the field of painting, sculpture, graphics, design, architecture, restoration of works of art, art history and the like. NAFAA is the successor of the Ukrainian Academy of Art, created on December 18, 1917, on the initiative of outstanding figures of culture, science and art. The Academy trains bachelors, masters, and doctors of philosophy/art history across various departments including painting and composition, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture, theory and history of arts, restoration of works of art, design, scenography, and screen arts, as well as general academic disciplines. It enrolls over 1000 students and employs more than 160 teachers across 14 departments. The Academy is a recognized leading artistic and educational center of the state, dedicated to the latest creative search while preserving classical heritage in art education, and contributing to national and world artistic heritage.

The Academy received IV accredited level from the State Accreditation Commission of Ukraine in July 1997 and was certified in November 1999. In September 2000, it was granted the status of a national institution by Presidential Decree.
