The School of Architecture

Now in its 93rd year of operation, The School of Architecture is forging a new path while honoring the traditions, pedagogy, and philosophy of its past as the Taliesin Fellowship founded by Frank Lloyd Wright. It offers a contemporary design education based on Wright's philosophy of learning by doing, experimentation, and building with the landscape. The school strives to bring lasting innovation, equity, and sustainability to the diverse communities it serves. The School offers one of the most experimental curricula in the country centered on studio-based, hands-on, integrative learning. Students explore architecture through design, technical and professional practices, history and theory, and the arts. Project-based learning is central to the educational experience and students may enlarge their experience through independent study. The school offers a three-year, project-based Master of Architecture degree, with a focus on organic architecture. It is the smallest accredited graduate architecture program in the United States and emphasizes hands-on learning, architectural immersion, experimentation, and a design-build program that grew out of the Taliesin Fellowships' tradition of building shelters in the Arizona desert.
