The Nagaoka Institute of Design (長岡造形大学, Nagaoka Zōkei Daigaku) is a public higher education institution located in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, specializing in design education and research. Established in 1994 as Japan's first public-private design university, supported by Nagaoka City and Niigata Prefecture, it emphasizes a comprehensive approach to design that integrates artistic, engineering, informational, and economic perspectives to address 21st-century challenges.
