Peirce College

Founded in 1865 in Philadelphia, Peirce College has a rich history of innovation in higher education, particularly for working adults. Originally established as Union Business College to serve Civil War veterans, it was also one of the first colleges to embrace women as students. Peirce's mission is to provide accessible, career-focused education with flexible classes and personalized support. While historically located at 1420 Pine Street since 1915, Peirce has adapted to modern needs by moving to a more flexible space and expanding its online programs. In line with its commitment to adult learners, Peirce enables students to earn credit for prior learning and embed professional certifications into their programs. As of the end of June 2025, Peirce will become part of Lackawanna College, continuing its legacy as the Peirce School of Online Education.
