Mount Ida College, originally established in 1899, began as the Mount Ida School for Girls, evolving from a finishing school to a junior college before becoming a baccalaureate institution. Its campus, located in Newton, Massachusetts, blends the architectural elegance of Victorian-era mansions with modern academic buildings. The core of the campus was once the estate of William Sumner Appleton and later Robert Gould Shaw II, featuring structures designed by Boston architect James Lovell Little Junior, including Shaw Hall and Holbrook Hall.
