About Bard College

The Architecture program at Bard College is a new, non-professional degree program launched in Fall 2020. It frames architecture as both an art form and an argument, emphasizing a situated aesthetic spatial practice focused on reconfiguring our collective present toward more just worlds. The curriculum builds across architectural cultures, design techniques, histories, and propositions to equip students with an expansive and experimental approach to the field. The program aims to engage students spatially across other disciplines, teaching that architecture is a site for transformative, insurgent spatial and material possibilities to imagine alternative futures. It fosters critical thinking about issues such as spatial justice, housing rights, gentrification, and spatial inequalities related to gender and race.
