About Algonquin College

Algonquin College's architecture programs are delivered through the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE) in Ottawa, a LEED Platinum certified facility. The college offers diploma programs in Architectural Technician (two-year) and Architectural Technology (three-year advanced diploma), along with a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Architectural Design. These programs provide practical skills and theoretical knowledge in building design, technical resolution, construction methods, and material detailing, covering both residential and commercial construction. Students engage in applied and theoretical learning, project-based studies, and co-operative education opportunities. The Sustainable Architectural Design program focuses on environmentally responsible building design, incorporating Canadian construction methods and building codes, and preparing students for the LEED Green Associate (GA) exam. The ACCE acts as a "Living Laboratory" with features like a five-storey biowall, storm water recovery systems, and solar panels, allowing students to monitor building performance. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles in architectural offices, construction companies, engineering firms, sales, and government agencies.
